Consumer protection, environmental law and corporate power / Ivan Bernier and Andrée Lajoie, research coordinators. : Z1-1983/1-41-50E-PDF

"Few areas of the law affect the average Canadian as directly or as dramatically as consumer protection. As consumers of complex goods and services we are exposed on a daily basis to problems of product safety, fair trade practices, product quality and dispute resolution. Most of the time we can resolve the problem ourselves - through discussion and compromise and without the help of law. Sometimes, though, we cannot. We need the help of law both as a benchmark and as a basis for action. We expect the law in these cases to be readily accessible and reasonably responsive. Because the problems in the area of consumer protection law are so pervasive, they can justifiably demand the best that the legal system can deliver. Large or small, consumer protection problems are important both to the individual and to society at large."--p. 1.
