Bill C-32 : An Act related to the repeal of section 159 of the Criminal Code / Julia Nicol. : YM32-3/421-C32E-PDF
"Bill C-32, An Act related to the repeal of section 159 of the Criminal Code, was introduced in the House of Commons on 15 November 2016 by the Minister of Justice, the Honourable Jody Wilson Raybould. The bill repeals section 159 of the Criminal Code (the Code). The provision criminalizes anal intercourse, subject to certain exceptions. The bill also includes related amendments to remove references to section 159 in a number of Code provisions, as well as in the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The repeal of section 159 is a change that has been sought for many years by the LGBTQI2S (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex and 2 spirited) community because of its impact on that community"--Background, p. 1.
