"There is a need to generate uniformly distributed random nunbers when it comes to sample selection in a survey. For small surveys, a table of random nunbers can be used to list the elements to be sampled. However, when the survey increases in level of complexity, such as is the case for a moderately large business survey, random numbers have to be computer-generated"--Introduction.
