"I am by no means an expert on copyright. When the Canadian Eskimo Arts Council was dismantled, our Section assumed the task of informing people how to go about obtaining permission to reproduce Inuit art images. So I had to become an expert in a hurry. Up to September 1989, the Council acted as an intermediary, doing all the work for whomever wished to reproduce the image of an Inuit sculpture or print. Since 1989, the publisher or curator or writer who wants to reproduce an Inuit artwork has to contact the artists or their agents directly without the Eskimo Arts Council as a buffer between them."--Copyright issues regarding Inuit art.
