“Industry Selling Price Indexes for Manufacturing are presented in this publication on a revised basis for the period January 1971 forward. The revised indexes are calculated using 1971 weights and supersede previously published indexes for the same period on a 1961 weight base. Indexes for the period up to December 1970 are also presented on a 1971 time base, but were calculated using weights appropriate to the particular time period. The Industry Selling Price Indexes are a set of base weighted price indexes designed to measure movement in the prices of products sold by Canadian establishments classified to the industries in the Manufacturing Division of the 1970 Standard Industrial Classification. The indexes are constructed from a sample of prices collected from establishments. By a process of aggregation, indexes are calculated for each level of the classification structure”--Introd., p.
