"This paper is a synopsis of a larger study titled, “An Ex-post Evaluation of Environmental Impact Assessment in Alberta and Saskatchewan: A Case Study of the Oldman and Rafferty Dams,” undertaken in partial completion of the requirements for the Degree of Master in Environmental Studies from the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. The objectives of the study were: to contribute to the understanding of the issues involved with the EIA controversies surrounding the Oldman Dam and Rafferty-Alameda projects; to contribute to the understanding of the issues involved with evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency and fairness of EIA processes with respect to these two projects; and to make recommendations for improvements to EIA processes in Alberta and Saskatchewan"--Introd., p.
