“This Background Paper provides an overview of drone technology and explains how these vehicles are regulated in Canada. The first section explains what drones are and identifies some of their civilian applications. The second section focuses on how drones are regulated in Canada, and the third section highlights some of the privacy and surveillance concerns related to drones. For comparison purposes, the fourth section looks at how drones are regulated in the United States (U.S.). Finally, the fifth section identifies future considerations policymakers will need to weigh in the balance as they continue to develop the legal framework for drones"--Introd., p. 1.
