"This edition of the Chemical Directory is the fifth of its kind which has been issued by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, previous editions having been published in 1919, 1921, 1933 and 1938. The present volume brings the information up to date in order to meet the frequent requests that come to the Bureau for complete lists of producers of the many chemicals or chemical products which are manufactured in Canada. In addition, it is believed that a directory of this kind will be a very useful reference for manufacturers, importers and consumers of chemicals and chemical products"--Preface.
