"Bill S-226 creates a "Sergei Magnitsky Law" and makes related amendments to the Speical Economic Measures Act (SEMA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). The purpose of the bill is to provide for measures that can be taken against foreign nationals who have committed gross violations of internationally recognized human rights"--Background, page 1.
