"The Quebec Region of the Canadian Hydrographic Service provided positioning and sounding support for the 1986 bottom-sediment survey of Lac St-Pierre and simultaneously upgraded its own hydrographic records. Hydrographic charts include references to bottom type and these are generally obtained by casts of a sounding lead. In this case, more detailed and better quality data were available from the sampling survey, and CHS requested that they be made available in the form of their standard labels. This note responds to that request"--Introduction, page 1.
