"Partnering is becoming more and more critical to solving environmental issues that are increasingly global in nature. In describing the Department's partnering activities, this document provides a rationale for the Department's involvement in partnering by showing how partnering is essential in working towards the setting of national approaches to environmental management and sustainability. It demonstrates that Environment Canada's science is essential to establishing consensus on environmental issues with other organizations, both nationally and internationally. The document also provides the reader with a number of examples of Environment Canada's policy documents and some partnering practices that are designed to effect the Department's partnering philosophy. Environment Canada will continue to pursue partnering as a key activity to achieve an overall objective of environmental sustainability"--Summary.
