"On 20 February 2019, the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights (the committee) commenced a study on the extent and scope of forced and coerced sterilization of persons in Canada[.] … This report provides an overview of the committee's findings and outlines the conclusions garnered during the committee's hearings. It begins with information to contextualize the study then moves to a discussion of reproductive rights in Canada and internationally followed by a history of forced and coerced sterilization of Indigenous women in Canada. The third section of this report explores reports and testimony on the topic of forced and coerced sterilization of other vulnerable and marginalized groups in Canada and abroad.
