Retrofit and remedial work on existing sliding doors and windows / by: Jozef Zorko, Dominic Chiovitti. : NH17-266/1998E-PDF
"Aluminum sliding windows and doors help clad a significant proportion of the residential building stock in Canada. Since their appearance on the market in the 1950's, they gained in popularity and use due to their relative low cost, simple installation, and ease of maintenance. Deterioration of the original weather stripping results in assemblies with poor air leakage performance and other incidental anomalies. Nationwide replacement of these windows and doors with more energy efficient models is a difficult and expensive undertaking"--Abstract.
