"Deterioration of steel reinforced concrete parking structures and similar structures is becoming a widespread and costly problem. In the case of parking structures, corrosion of the reinforcing steel is exacerbated by intrusion of chloride ions into the concrete. The chlorides are commonly introduced either by direct application of deicing salts or are brought in on vehicles, which then drip chloride-laden water onto the slabs"--Introduction.
