"The remarkable growth of the wood composite panel sector constitutes one of the success storiesof the Canadian wood industry in the second half of the twentieth century — a success story that can be maintained well into the twenty-first century if we begin to prepare for it now. … This Technology Roadmap demonstrates that the sector's success has been driven by technology which has broadened the range of usable raw materials, reduced manufacturing costs and increased product quality. Today, as the industry's confidence is somewhat tempered by concerns over wood supplies or over-capacity, it is appropriate to analyze the situation and determine what knowledge will most likely help the industry meet its challenges.
