"This study is an examination of the relationships of selected streamflow characteristics to physical geographic patterns in the plains area of the Canadian Prairie Provinces. The aims of the study were twofold, firstly, to develop a set of statistical relationships for the prediction of streamflow characteristics for ungauged basins, and secondly to add to our understanding of plains hydrology through the identification of physical geographic variables which are related to streamflow patterns. In view of the multivariate nature of the relationships being considered, a system investigation approach utilizing the statistical techniques of multiple regression and factor analysis was adopted"--Abstract, page ii.
