"This report is concerned with the fifth of a series of surveys planned to describe the oceanography of the Northeast Pacific Ocean. These studies are designed to describe the physical and chemical environment, water masses and currents and their seasonal and yearly fluctuations, in the region of importance to salmon. It is part of Canada's contribution to the research program of the International North Pacific Fisheries Commission in the North Pacific Ocean"--Introduction, page 1.
