Effect of seismic energy on snow crab (Chionoecetes opilio) / by John R. Christian ... et al. for Environmental Studies Research Fund [i.e. Funds]. : NE23-122/2003E
This study investigated the effects of seismic air gun noise on snow crab and snow crab catches. This was a preliminary attempt to assess the effects of seismic air gun noise on the physical, biochemical, and activity patterns of snow crab. It examined a number of health, behavioural, and reproductive variables before, during, and after seismic shooting. The study found that the noise had no obvious effects on crab behaviour and no significant effects on the health of adult crabs.
