This customs notice is to advise that, effective July 1, 2012, in accordance with the provisions of Article 503(c) of NAFTA, the importer and owner will be exempted from the requirement to furnish the proof of origin required under subsection 35.1(1) of the Customs Act for locomotives of headings 86.01 and 86.02 and railway freight cars of heading 86.06 of the List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Customs Tariff, transported overland from the United States into Canada and for which preferential tariff treatment under NAFTA is claimed.
