Part I is devoted to an historical sketch of the industry from the earliest times up to the present, including for the period since Confederation the salient figures of the several decennial Censuses. In Part II, which constitutes the body of the report, a comprehensive statistical statement and analysis is given of the industry as it exists to-day (production, raw materials, capital, employees, wages, equipment, capacity, etc., etc.); mills for the grinding of food products are segregated from chopping mills in this review, merchant and custom milling distinguished, etc. Part III contains a classified list of the mills operating in Canada, revised to March, 1923, showing the capacity of each"--Preface.
