"This paper presents some new Canadian evidence on the extent to which personal saving responds to changes in the public pension system. Econometric analysis of a new data base, which provides information on contributions to Registered Retirement Savings Plans, occupational pension schemes and the Canada Pension Plan,according to the age and taxable income class of tax-filers reveals that the Canada Pension Plan has had a strong negative effect on personal retirement saving"--Abstract, p. ii.
