"A DFO Maritimes Region workshop titled Developing a Consensus Ecosystem Based Management (EBM) Framework to assess the cumulative impacts of fishing was held on 17-19 December 2019. Participants included DFO Science, Oceans Management, Policy and Economics, and Fisheries Management Branches. The objectives of this workshop were to (1) Develop a fully operational Maritimes Ecosystem Based Management (EBM) Framework to assess the cumulative impacts of fishing, and (2) Develop a common vision for a Maritimes ecosystem approach to management (EAM) Framework to assess the cumulative impacts of multiple activities. This workshop represents another step in DFO Maritimes’ initiative to implement an ecosystem based approach to management. Further work is required to finalize and operationalize the framework. To this end, an inter-sectoral Maritimes Region EBM Working Group is proposed"--Abstract, page v.
