Geology, Eight Mile Creek, British Columbia / [by] M.E. McMechan. : M183-1/102-2012E-PDF
"The Eight Mile Creek area (94-N/03) in the northernmost Canadian Rocky Mountain Foothills is underlain by Mississippian to Lower Cretaceous strata. In the east, Lower Cretaceous shale unconformably overlies a Lower to Middle Triassic coarsening-upward succession capped by shallow-water sandstone of the Liard Formation. In the west, several hundred metres of Upper Triassic carbonate rocks are preserved and Middle Triassic strata have thickened and changed into a deeper water facies. Folds dominate the structural style. Folds are upright with mixed asymmetry in the eastern part of the area. Folds range from upright to overturned and foreland-vergent farther west. Major fold detachments occur in Lower Triassic and Lower Cretaceous shales. Fold axial traces trend northwest to north. Occasional abrupt swings in orientation occur. Only a few discontinuous mappable thrust faults occur. Most are foreland-vergent and offset fold limbs"--Abstract.
