The objectives of this study were to (1) evaluate the effects of preservation for various time periods in 4% or 10% formalin on the mean lengths, weights, and condition factor of American eel elvers for both sample-based and individual fish data and (2) to examine the magnitude of preservation effects relative to biological effects such as changes in size due to seasonal, annual, and geographic variability.--Introduction
