Acting appointments and subsequent promotions in the federal public service : a statistical study by the Public Service Commission of Canada: SC3-120/2007

This statistical report presents the results of a two-year study into whether employees in acting appointments in the public service gain an advantage toward subsequent promotion. Factors considered in the study include job classifications; departments and agencies; employment equity; age; official languages; and duration, timing, and rate of subsequent promotion. The study also examines the staffing role of the Public Service Commission, and describes data sources and methodology.
