Nutrient Value of Some Common Foods is a quick and easy reference guide to the nutritional content of 975 foods commonly consumed by Canadians. It has been revised to reflect the changed eating habits of Canadians, improvements in nutrient chemical analysis, and better understanding of nutrition. This updated version provides data for 19 nutrients including new additions such as zinc, folate and Vitamin B6. Fatty Acid Profiles for selected foods are displayed in appendices to the main tables, and the food groups and subgroups have been changed to better reflect the principles of Canada's Food Guide. Common household measurements are used to make the information accessible. Nutrient Value of Some Common Foods now incorporates: baby food baked goods British Columbia grain-fed veal Selected cuts of Canadian chicken, pork and processed meats breakfast cereals Canadian margarines snacks and sweets fast-food An excellent teaching tool for forming better food choices through an understanding of food's nutrient content.
