"The number of lithium battery air shipments has increased in the past decade and continues to increase due to increased global demand in many electrical applications. A better understanding of the shipping environment, including the mechanical and environmental stresses experienced during transport, is necessary to help assess the risk posed by lithium batteries during the shipping cycle.
