"This workshop brought together national and international experts in structural and earthquake engineering, as well as stakeholders and managers of large public portfolios of existing buildings in Canada, including Public Services and Procurement Canada, Global Affairs Canada, and Department of National Defense. The objective of this workshop was to seek input and set direction in addressing the state of practice, knowledge gaps, and roadmap for seismic risk assessment and retrofit, and performance based seismic design of buildings. This workshop also explored the future joint research collaborations between Canada and Taiwan in the area of earthquake engineering"--Introduction, page 1.
