Formatting your cover or title and copyright pages

Publications must include the following elements.

Cover or title page

Begin your publication with a cover or title page which includes the following:

  1. Title of publication
  2. Date of publication
  3. Corporate signature
  4. Canada wordmark

Copyright page

A copyright page follows the cover or title page. It should always open on the left-hand side (called a verso page). Include the following elements:

  1. Government of Canada catalogue number and publication numbers (ISBN or ISSN)
  2. Crown copyright statement
  3. Notice of available languages

Examples of a copyright notice

© His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, as represented by [title of the minister], [year of publication]
