Over the last 20 to 30 years, there has been a notable trend within science education research of youth exhibiting low levels of interest when it comes to pursuing STEM-related activities, education and/or careers. Informal science learning can help make STEM fun by creating more authentic links between STEM theory and practice and by cultivating deeper interest in science through active learning or prolonged engagement"--Executive summary.
