"The information presented here was gathered as part of a Study of Training and Development conducted by the Audit and Evaluation Division at Statistics Canada. Over 100 people were interviewed, mostly over the summer and autumn of 2000. These included managers and employees from seven different divisions; training professionals; recruit managers; and others. This information is intended to be used by managers and training professionals at Statistics Canada as another helpful tool for managing the training and development function within their respective areas of responsibility. Information is presented in two sections: Promising Practices, and Barriers to Training. The section on Barriers to Training also contains solutions suggested by those interviewed"--Introduction, page 1.
